Interview with Adrian Bührer, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Übermorgen Ventures. Written by Melanie Gath.
“Those might be some tough questions,” Adrian Bührer says when Franz asks him what he thinks he’s particularly good at as a father. Like so many of these "Father to Father" conversations, this one goes deep. Franz’s questions naturally push his guests into a moment of reflection. It’s wonderful to see how honestly and directly this father of two opens up, without any sugar-coating.
He admits that every now and then, he actually prefers a meeting with colleagues over playing Monopoly with his kids. Adrian explains: “I firmly believe that people, and to be honest – very often men – simply need that bit of balance.” He specifically mentions alone time, grabbing a drink with friends, or making time for sports. Suppressing those needs constantly, he says, is a sure way for a man to end up unhappy.
He’s also self-critical when it comes to spending time outdoors and connecting with nature. Even though he knows how important it is, he admits it often falls short in daily life. He dives deep into the topic, sharing his belief that the need for contact with nature is rooted deep within us as human beings.
Find out what he and his children take away from their annual father-child hiking trip, and what his kids have in common with water-shy cats, right here in the interview:
