A Letter to our Kids – from Franzi and Marius Schatz

Written by Franzi und Marius Schatz @roadtyping

Hey, you two wonderful nature boys! We are so proud to explore the world through your curious and enthusiastic eyes. You help us see the beauty in the small things, like every tiny flower by the roadside, and any animal in need can count on you to find and help them. Thank you for letting us share our values about nature and community, and for how beautifully you live them every day. In many ways, you are already better than we ever will be: You pick up trash everywhere, complain if someone isn't wearing a helmet, and ask why so many people eat meat when animals are so sweet. That fills us with incredible pride.

We are incredibly lucky that through our brand @roadtyping.goods, we get to spend a lot of time outdoors with you and experience great adventures together. We're not the only ones who appreciate this special time – you also understand that not all your friends and classmates get to experience it.

Because our work blends so perfectly with our lives, and you're such a big part of it, we want to thank you for going along with our wildest ideas, and also for always telling us honestly when you don't want to do something.

Filling life with memories together

When we think back over the last few years, what stands out most are all the beautiful days we've spent in nature and our travels through Europe, Sri Lanka, and North America. Together, we explored real dinosaur skeletons – not in a museum, but in the Badlands of Canada. Together, we saw our first iceberg off Newfoundland, passing whales, and nesting puffins.

In the ocean, you've had very special encounters, swimming with manatees in Florida and turtles in Sri Lanka. On safari, you spotted elephants and leopards. You've gotten to see almost all the big land animals of the Northern Hemisphere with your own eyes – and you've learned to love and respect them.

Just like us, you love the forests – and together we've seen so many amazing things, from rainforests to mountain forests. Do you remember the giant sequoias in California, or the still-smoldering wildfires in British Columbia that made us so sad? Nature has always fascinated you – and us – and always rewarded us with its incredible beauty.

Year after year, you get older, and we can experience more and more exciting adventures. Together we fill our lives with memories – and as long as you still let us come along, we want to experience so much more with you. We so want to cycle across the Alps with you again, travel to other continents to explore their plants and animals, hike from hut to hut, wait out thunderstorms, discover shooting stars, build igloos, hit the ski slopes and tear down bike parks – but most of all: spend tons of time together.

We are already so, so excited for our next big adventure – getting to know the wild animals of South Africa, discovering the culture of another exciting continent, and spending a lot of time together again.

We wish for you that you never lose your spirit of discovery, that you see obstacles as opportunities to climb, that no mountain peak is ever too high, but also that you find balance within yourselves and with nature, that a moment in the forest can always recharge you, and that you learn to appreciate the rain and wind on your skin. Most of all, we wish that you will want us to be a part of your adventures for a long time to come.

We love you so much.
